MILFORD – Pike County Sheriff Phil Bueki has been nominated to receive national honors from D.A.R.E. America and the United State Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Bueki was nominated by his peers in law enforcement including police and D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) officers from several states to receive the National Law Enforcement Executive of the Year Award.
Bueki told Pike County Press that he is extremely honored by this recognition as he has been dealing with matters of crime prevention for 25 years along with heading up the state’s D.A.R.E. Academy. He explained that such an honor could only help focus support on drug prevention efforts here in Pike County and across the entire Commonwealth.
The award is sponsored by the DEA along with D.A.R.E. America to highlight the importance of law enforcement and prevention while working to make communities drug free.
Officials from the DEA will present the award to the Pike County Sheriff during the International D.A.R.E. Conference at Disney’s Colorado Springs Resort in Orlando Florida on July 21.
