LAKE WALLENPAUPACK — The body of John J. Carvajal, 48, of Linden, NJ was recovered from the waters of Lake Wallenpaupack last Saturday, August 1.
Carvajal had been missing since he went swimming off of a private boat on July 18. Rescuers had been trying since then to locate and recover the body.
More than two dozen agencies from three states, including just about every local fire department, as well as the State Police and the FBI, were involved in the recovery efforts.
Incident Coordinator Jon Castimore, of Tafton Fire and Rescue, summed up the feelings of all the volunteers involved in the recovery in an earlier statement.
“We all feel bad,” he said. “We wish we could have done more for the family.”
Carvajal’s wake was on Wednesday evening at Krowicki-McCraken Funeral Home in Linden, NJ. The funeral was held on Thursday, August 6, at Iglesia De Santa Maria De La Asuncion, (Saint Mary’s Church) in Elizabeth, NJ, with internment at Rosedale and Rosehill Cemetery in Linden.
