Audio Production: Gives Students Basics for Recording at Home

NEWTON, NJ – Mix-O-Lydian Studios in Lafayette will be the setting for a new course this Fall offered through Sussex County Community College (SCCC).  The course, “Special Topics in Communication:  Audio Production/Technology” will be taught by Don Sternecker, owner of  Mix-O-Lydian Studios and will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6-9:40 PM.

Sternecker said that many people are trying to record music at home and he would like students to learn the basics to become a better recorder.  As part of the course, students will learn how to use microphones, how to mix with live sound and how to use portable equipment.   The students will also have the opportunity to record live performances.

Certification Course for New Jersey Notaries

There is a growing need for Notary Publics in many professions such as financial, real estate, business and legal. Detailed instructions on how to obtain a notary commission from the State of New Jersey will be offered as well as acquiring skills and tools to complete the state-assigned job duties as described by the New Jersey Department of Revenue.

Completion of this course will give any notary, new or renewing, the ability to perform all notary duties with less liability and more confidence.

The seminar is taught by Jennie Stormes, Notary Public, Certified Notary Signing Agent and owner of Academy for Notaries.  The seminar is being offered on Thursday, October 22, from 6 – 10 PM.  The cost is $65.

Real Estate Sales

Begin a career in real estate sales by taking a course offered on New Jersey Real Estate pre-licensing.  Students are required to take this 75-hour pre-licensing course before they can take the New Jersey state examination to become a licensed real estate salesperson.

A daytime session and an evening session are being offered.  The evening session will begin on September 22 and runs every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6 – 9:45 PM ending on December 1. The day session begins October 12 and will run Monday through Friday from 9AM – 2:30 PM ending on October 30.  Upon successful completion of the 75-hour course, students will receive a certificate, which is used to gain admission into the state exam.  In addition, a high school diploma or GED is required to obtain licensing by the State.
