LAKEVILLE – Marie R. (Ritting) Williams, 90, of Lakeville, died Friday, November 6, 2009 at Bethany Village, Bethany, PA, following an illness.

Born in Philadelphia to the late Carl and Rebecca Burris Ritting, she was with widow of Edwin C. Williams.

She was a bookkeeper and a member of the Mormen – Latter Day Saints.

Mrs. Williams was a volunteer at the Hawley Library until age 90. In 2004 she received the Alma and Charles Hames Volunteer Librarian Award after completing over 25 years of service. Marie shared her passion for books and reading with students at the Wallenpaupack Area North Primary School where she also volunteered for many years. She was fond of telling children to “read, read, read.” She often said, “With a book in your hand you are never alone, you can travel all over the world.” Her other passion was collecting Nativities and sharing their stories with school children and her women’s clubs.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Edwin J. and Sheila C. Williams of Lakeville; son and daughter-in-law Robert W. and Cyndie Williams of Glenville, NY; son, Kurt S. Williams of Lakeville; sister, Merle Rieben of Sebring, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Mitz Ritting of Gig Harbor, WA; sister, Ruth Sims of Rockledge, PA; grandchildren Keith, Kathe and Spencer Williams; Scott and Brian Williams; grandchild Wendy Brook; and Karen Williams; Great grandchildren: Amanda, Jessie, Justin, Zachary, Sabrina and Colleen.

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kolleen.

Funeral services were private at the convenience of the family; Cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
