Richard Anthony Dawson, age 61, of Matamoras, Pa., entered into the arms of our Lord Sunday November 1, 2009 at home. He was born in Patterson, New Jersey on September 5, 1948, the son of the late Eugene and Dorothy Jadott Dawson. Richard was a paratrooper with the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War. He was a retired foreman with Fleurchem Co. in Middletown, N.Y.
Richard was devoted to his wife, Fran Rocco Rosario Dawson, who survives at home. He is also survived by his step children: Victoria Rosario of Matamoras, Pa., Michael Rosario and his wife Oron of Millington, Tenn., and Ricky Rosario and his fiance Jeovannah of Matamoras, Pa.; his cherished grandchildren: Mika, David, Vinny, Lex, Kemen, Jaden, Lajhia, Gabreilla and Xiomara. He leaves his friend Juan of many years. Rich was a true friend to all and was there for anyone who needed help, he gave of himself completely. Rich fought a more than courageous battle with cancer and was truly grateful for his wonderful caring family and friends who were with him through the entire fight. Rich brought into this family a love that was unimaginable and will live in our hearts forever. Rich touched each and every one of our lives, and for that we will always be grateful.

Robert Pantley
Robert G. Pantley died peacefully at the home of his daughter, with his family at his side on Saturday October 31, 2009 in Glen Spey, N.Y. after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was 67. He was born in Port Jervis, N.Y., the son of the late Gessner and Elsie Culver Pantley. He graduated from Port Jervis High School and continued his education, graduating from Leland powers in Boston, Mass. He retired from Wilder Manufacturing. in Port Jervis. He was a Member of Port Jervis Lodge of Masons 328 F& AM.
He had a passion for storytelling and was widely known as the “Old Canaler” for the Neversink Valley Area Museum. He enjoyed acting and participated in quite a number of Presby Player productions for the First Presbyterian Church as well singing baritone for many choral groups and entertaining for numerous charity events. In his retirement, he enjoyed history, painting, his grandchildren and the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry.
Bob is survived by his former wife, who was his 50-year companion, Susan Fleming of Exeter, N.H.; his sister Gail Anglin and her husband David of Ottawa, Canada; his son Gessner Pantley and his wife Jodi of Vero Beach, Florida; his two daughters, Ellen Gulla and her husband Tony of Glen Spey, N.Y., and Maureen Pantley and fiancé Keith Kizer of Sparrowbush, N.Y.; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” for the never failing work, faith and compassion to Dr. Pinos and his staff of the Upper Delaware Valley Cancer Center in Milford, the exemplary third floor nurses at Bon Secours Hospital and the nursing staff of the Orange and Sullivan Hospice.

Doris M. Mantione, age 81, of Huguenot, N.Y., passed away Thursday November 29, 2009 at Port Jervis, N,Y. She was born on September 15, 1928 in Enfield, Conn., the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Stone Gabba. Doris was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Port Jervis, N.Y. and was an avid bowler. She married Domenic Mantione, who survives at home. Doris is also survived by her sister, Margaret Amoruso of Cromwell, Conn.; two bothers, Raymond Gabba of Kingsville, Texas, and Albert Stone of of San Fernando, Calif.; and several cousins.

Irene M. Eakin, age 93 of Mahwah, N.J. and formerly of Port Jervis, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, October 28 at Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, N,J. She was born on July 21, 1916 in Port Jervis, N.Y. the daughter of the late Edward and Sadie Davis Dwyer.
Irene married William Eakin, who predeceased her. She is survived by her daughter Sally M. Eakin and her fiancé Thomas Yingling of Mahwah, N.J.; her son, James Eakin and his wife Becky of Norwich, Vermont; two granddaughters, Laurie and Jessica; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Irene attended the Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Mahwah, N.J.
Prayers were offered Monday at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, N.Y. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, concelebrated by Rev. Clifford Ekwume and Rev. John Foley. Interment took place at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Port Jervis.

MILFORD – Berneta B. Misenhelder, 92, of Milford, died Thursday, October 21, 2009 at Belle Reve Senior Living Center. A beautician, she owned and operated “Berneta’s” of Milford. Mrs. Misenhelder, an avid golfer who enjoyed the Cliff Park Women’s Golf League, she bowled in the Friday Night Women’s Bowling League. She was also member of the Alter and Rosary Society at St. Patrick’s Church, Milford, and of the Milford Garden Club.
Born the daughter of Floyd and Lavina (Christin) Bronson on September 18, 1917, in Athens, PA. She was married to the late John P. Misenhelder who predeceased her on January 7, 2009.
She is survived by her godchild, Sister Patricia Sullivan, nephews, Thomas J. Gennaria and his wife Christine of Wilmington, DE, Ronald Bronson of Tucson, AZ, Gary Bronson of Tucson, AZ, James Bronson of NC, David Bronson of NC, and Legrande Lilly of Jacksonville, TX; and several great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Misenhelder was also predeceased by her twin sister Bernice Bronson Gennaria and her husband James A.; brother Robert Bronson and his wife Barbara; and niece Patrice Gennaria Mohr.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the St. Patrick’s Church, Milford with Rev. Gerald Mullally officiating. Interment followed at the Milford Cemetery, Dingman Twp.

John G. Quinby, age 78, of Port Jervis, N.Y. passed away Wednesday October 21, 2009 at the Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus, Middletown, N.Y.
He was born on January 24, 1931 in New York City, NY, the son of the late John and Jane Gillespie Quinby. John proudly served our country during the Korean War with the U.S. Marines. He was an excellent piano tuner and retired owner of John’s Piano as a Baldwin Dealer, in Walden, N.Y. He also retired as a deputy sheriff from the Orange County Sheriff’s Deptartment, Goshen, N.Y.
John married Barbara Lynne Shoenthal Quinby, who survives at home. He is also survived by his five daughters, Lisa Tallman and her husband Michael of Honesdale, Pa., Stephanie Ann Quinby of Chester, Va. Deborah Anne Jones and her husband Rev. Andrew Jones of Port Jervis, Nancy Lynne McCarthy and her companion Alex of Easton, Pa. and Sandra Louise Kraich and her husband Chris of New Hampton, N.Y; two sons Michael Sean Quinby and his wife Karen of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mark George Quinby and his wife Lisa of Pinellas Park, Fla., his sister MaryJane Faust of Niagara Falls, Canada, 15 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Harold Leslie Beams
Harold Leslie Beams, age 99, of Port Jervis, N.Y. passed away Monday October 26, 2009 at Elant Health and Rehabilitation Center, Newburgh, N.Y. He was born on March 4, 1910 at Meridale, N.Y., the son of the late Harry and Eva Wardell Beams. Les married Florence Moscript Beams, who pre-deceased him on March 23, 1992. He was a retired truck driver for Agway Corp., Port Jervis, N.Y. Les was a member of the Drew United Methodist Church and was custodian of Drew Church for 20 years. He was very active with the Boy Scouts of America.
Les is survived by his two sons, Richard Beams and his wife Patty of Waterford, Conn, and Robert Beams and his wife Marlene of Newburgh, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Darlene McLaughlin and her husband James, Arminda Porretto and her husband Robert, Scott Beams, David Beams and his wife Samantha; six great-grandchildren, Hailey, Noah, Devin, Connor, Ashley and Jayden, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stella Marie Hunter of Port Jervis, N.Y. and a lifetime resident of the area died Thursday, October 8, 2009 at home. She was 81.
She was born December 9, 1927 in Port Jervis, the daughter of the late Pasquale and the late Angelina Mazzaffero Marando. Stella married Harold ‘’Bud’’ Hunter 61 years ago on September 17, 1948 in St. Mary’s Church, Port Jervis. She worked for Mercy Community Hospital in Port Jervis as a health insurance clerk. A family statement read: “Stella was a loving person who loved everyone.’’
Surviving are her husband: Harold ‘’Bud’’ Hunter at home; son Todd Hunter of Newport, N.C.; son Randy Hunter and his fiancé Chrisof Huguenot, N.Y.; brother Dominic Marando and his wife Betty of Syracuse, N.Y.; grandson Michael Hunter of Newport, N.C.; granddaughter: Sheila Hunter of Newport, N.C.; great grandson Nathaniel Hunter of Newport, N.C.; nephew Gary Marando of Syracuse, N.Y.; and niece Donna Marando of Syracuse, N.Y.

Dorothy R. Hubbard, 85, of Milford, PA, formerly of Sparta, N.J., died Monday, September 28, 2009, at Belle Reve Senior Living Center, Milford, Pa. She was a seamstress, and a retired teacher’s aid from Sparta School District.
Born in Pottsville, Pa., January 26, 1924, she was the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Stiles) Julian. She was married to Clarence W. Hubbard, who predeceased her July 14, 2009.
She is survived by her son, Clarence W. Hubbard Jr., of Los Alamos, N.M; three daughters, Lynn Murcko, of Milford, Pa, Elizabeth Karlson, of Yaphank, N.Y., and Jayne Buda, of Shohola, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Frank Murcko, Trish Ramage, Valerie Murcko, Senior Airman Brandon Pratt, Eric Paganetti, Carley Paganetti, Zachary Paganetti, Ian Hubbard, and Denver Paganetti; two great grandchildren, Aiden Ramage and Ethan Ramage; two sisters, Bernice Chernes, of Sparta, N.J., and Katherine Wood, of Pottsville, Pa.

Mr. Robert F. Loughnane of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Mill Rift, Pa., died Saturday, October 10, 2009 at North Side Hospital in St. Petersburg. He was 80.
He was born April 18, 1929 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late John and the late Eva Meyer Loughnane.
He married Helen ‘’Evelyn’’ Fitzgerald 59 years ago on July 15, 1950 in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He was a member of Holy Family R.C. Church, Mill Rift where he was a lector and a member of Holy Family R.C. Church, St. Petersburg, where he was a Eucharistic minister. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Family Council in St. Petersburg.
Bob was the president of the UATAN, St. Petersburg.
Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a corporal during the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife Helen ”Evelyn” Loughnane; son Robert J. Loughnane and his wife Laraine of Brooklyn, N.Y.; son James P. Loughnane and his wife Violetta of Brooklyn, N.Y.; daughter Christine Most and her husband Charles of Clinton, N.J.; daughter Regina Flecha and her husband Angel of New York, N.Y.; sister Evelyn Piccarelli of Port Jervis, N.Y.; sister Veronica Pierce of Schylerville, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren: Daniel Flecha, Christine Betaneli, Colin Most, Allison Most, Michael Loughnane, Catherine Loughnane, Erin Loughnane, Jaclyn Loughnane, Diana Loughnane and Andrew Loughnane; also several nieces and nephews
