Julie Corey

Mrs. Julie Corey of Matamoras, Pa. entered into heaven on Sunday, February 7, 2010.  She died peacefully with her loving family at her bedside.  She was reunited with her husband Earl Corey, Jr., her son Earl Corey III and her grandson Scott Corey.

JuJu, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was born April 22, 1920 in Binghamton, N.Y., the daughter of the late Michael and the late Angela Hrusecky Hromada.

Julie was one of 12 children and was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.

Julie was a well known waitress in the area working in several local restaurants.

She is survived by her daughters, Joe-An Messinger of Sparrowbush and Roberta ‘’Bootsie’’ Heckman of Matamoras, Pa.  Her Grandchildren:  Julie Strasser and her husband Jack of Glen Spey, N.Y.  Allen Quick of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Brett Jason Quick and his wife Coleen of Pensacola, Fla.; Jodi Caliciotti and her husband Craig of Stony Point, N.Y., John Heckman and his wife Barbara of Port Jervis and Joseph Heckman and his wife Crissy of Pasadena, Md.

Her loving great grandchildren:  Morgan and Anthony Strasser, Brandon, Rachel & Ayden Quick, Corey, Cassie, Connor Caliciotti, Megan Heckman and Carter Heckman.

Her sisters, Josephine Cutting and Minnie Ahrens both of Afton, N.Y. Rosemarie McBride of Florida.

Also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service of remembrance was held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, N.Y.

Timothy Belcher

Timothy S. “Boz” Belcher, age 45, and a lifelong resident of Port Jervis, N.Y., passed away Wednesday February 3, 2010 at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y., after a short illness.  He was born on October 30, 1964 in Port Jervis, the son of the late Arthur N. Belcher and Gail E. Lewis Belcher, who survives.  Timothy was a Glass Temperer for Gillinder Brothers Glass Co, Port Jervis, N.Y.  Timothy enjoyed sports, especially baseball and hockey.  He rarely missed a Mets or Philadelphia Flyers game.  He also enjoyed music, attending concerts to see his favorite bands.  He enjoyed the game of Trivia and he always knew the answers to the sports and music questions.

He is survived by his devoted family and friends,  his mother Gail Lewis Belcher  of Port Jervis, his companion Hope Flores and her son  Devon, both at home, and his  son to be born in March, Arthur Belcher.  He is also survived  by his  brother,  Joseph Belcher and his companion Melissa of Poughkeepsie, NY, two sisters, Kelly Belcher of Port Jervis, and Sharon Makrell and her companion  Tony of Port Jervis, his paternal  grandmother,  Anne Williams Belcher of Port Jervis, five nephews, two nieces and  several aunts, uncles, and cousins.   He will be greatly missed by all.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Rev. Robert Elliott officiated.  Cremation will follow at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, Pa.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, and N.Y.

Bertha “Bertie” Schock

Bertha “Bertie” Schock age 77, of Matamoras, Pa., passed away Wednesday February 3, 2010 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY.  Bertie was born on January 16, 1933, in Glenwood, New Jersey, the daughter of the late, Alvah and Alice Toffel Drake.  She was a retired Laboratory Technician for Kolmar Labs, Inc., Port Jervis, N.Y.  Bertie married Robert D.  Schock, who pre-deceased her.  She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Matamoras.  Bertie is survived by her daughter, Nancy Kroener and her husband Donald of Milford, Pa.; her grandson Jonathan Kroener, two brothers, Alvah Drake, Jr of Unionville, NY and Mark Drake of the State of Florida,  her sister, Kathy Smith of Port Jervis, and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by  two sisters, Betty Jean Runnals and Dolores Walsh, and she was also pre-deceased by two brothers, Thomas and Larry Drake.

Grace L. Witzel

Grace L. Witzel, age 84, of Port Jervis, N,Y, passed away  Tuesday February 2, 2010 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, N,Y.  She was born  on March 1, 1925 in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of the late Frederick and Augusta Lichenstein Fumia.   Grace was a retired Laser operator for LeCroy Corp., in Spring Valley, NY.  She married Albert A. Witzel, who pre-deceased her.  She is survived by her son, William Witzel and his wife  Lee-Ann of Thiells, NY, her daughter Ann  M. Terpening and her husband Gene of Port Jervis, NY, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was pre-deceased by her son Robert Witzel,  her daughter, Grace LaForge and her granddaughter, Debbie Terpening.

Visitation was Friday Feb. 5th from 10-11 am at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.  Prayers were offered at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment took place at the Gary OnderDonk Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Suffern, N.Y.  Arrangements were by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc. 154 E. Annetta “Ann” Wilson

Mrs. Annetta “Ann” Wilson of Port Jervis, N.Y. and a lifetime resident of the area was called home to the Lord on Monday, February 1, 2010.  She was 68.

She was born October 10, 1941 in Livingston Manor, N.Y. the daughter of the late of the late Rexford and the late Annetta Cook Hinkley.

Ann worked as a raw materials inventory clerk for Kolmar Labs in Port Jervis.

She was a member of Deerpark Reformed Church in Port Jervis and a former member of the Town of Deerpark Lions Club.

A family statement read:  ‘’Ann was a Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt who has left us and gone home to heaven.  She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.  She will be with us in spirit and loved forever.  God bless her.’’

She leaves to cherish her memory: husband of 31 years Willard ”Skip” Wilson at home; son Ray Hendrickson and his wife Cindy of Port Jervis, N.Y.; son Rob Hendrickson and his wife Dee of Pensacola, Fla.; granddaughter Rose Davis and her husband Steven of Port Jervis, N.Y.;

Granddaughter Raquel Hendrickson of Port Jervis; granddaughters Cass and Crystal Hendrickson of Pensacola, Fla.; great grandson Ethan James Davis; sister Diana Dailey           of Sugar Loaf, N.Y.; brother Clarence ”Skip” Hinkley  and his wife Helen of Livingston Manor, N.Y.;

very dear friend Rose Coratella of Holiday, Fla.; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Henrieta Wrenne.

Friends may call at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, N.Y. on Thursday, February 4, 2010 2-4 and 7-9  p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 8 p.m. at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, with Rev. Ann Rost officiating.

Burial will be in Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville, N.Y.

Antoinette “Toni” DeAngelo Salva, age 96, of Matamoras, Pa. passed away Tuesday January 26, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Place, Port Jervis, N,Y.

She was born in Sarno, Italy on  July 16, 1913, the daughter of the late  Antonio DeAngelo and Antonia Faiello DeAngelo Corirossi.

Antoinette married   August “Gus” Salva on  April 8, 1934 and he pre-deceased her on  October 30, 1996.  Antoinette and her late husband, Gus, owned and operated  Salva’s Harmony Shop, in Port Jervis,  for many years.  She was a member of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Matamoras, Pa., a member of the Alter & Rosary Society of the Church, Member of Catholic Daughters , Court Madonna #114, Port Jervis, Member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society, Port Jervis, Member of Matamoras Seniors, Member of the 4th Ward  Girls Club, Member of the Red Hat Society and the National AARP.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan Ann Wilcox and her husband James of Port Jervis; six grandchildren, Debra Decker and her husband Eugene, Diane Barber and her husband Michael, Donna Potere and her husband Richard, Deneen Basile and her husband Robert, Lisa Kozlowski and her husband Stephen, Kenneth Fuchylo, Jr. and his wife Lynn; 17 great grandchildren,Eric, Dylan, Matthew, Megan, Hannah,Ryan, Emily, Christopher, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Alexander, Toni,Kevin, Bernadette, Edward,Samantha,and Nicolas; 1 great great grandchild, Cameron and several nieces and nephews. Antoinette was pre-deceased by her daughter, Carole Fuchylo, 2 brothers, Michael DeAngelo, and John Corirossi.  She was also pre-deceased by her 3 sisters, Rose Viserta, Fannie Amato and Stella Piccirillo.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, January 29 at 11am at  St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Matamoras, Pa., with Rev. Ricciardi as celebrant.  Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Jervis, N.Y.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s R.C. Donald R. Cron

MILFORD – Donald R. Cron, a 20 year resident of Hudson, Fla., formerly of Milford, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at the age of 76.

The son of the late Harold A. Cron, Sr. and Martha (Jagger) Cron, he was born on April 20, 1933 at home in Dingmans Ferry.

Donald served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged December 1953.

He was married to Helen R. (Baker) Cron on March 20, 1954. Helen predeceased him on February 26, 2006.

Donald was a carpenter for most of his life building a number of homes in Pike County.

He is sadly missed by his three daughters: Terrie Arculeo and her husband, Bill, of Milford; Cynthia finch and her husband, Walt, of Hudson, Fla.; Lynn Bush and her husband, Ben, of Hudson, Fla. He is further survived by 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Lane, Kristan Wait, Bill Arculeo, Jr., Melinda Newland, Ricky Newland, Jessica Morris, Melissa Rich, Andrew  Finch, Theresa DeMorrow, Brian Cunningham, and Kim Bush; seven great grandchildren, Brittney, Ashley, and Tyler Lane; Amaya Cunningham, Kya, Dylan, and Emma DeMorrow; one aunt, Mildred Ridley; brother-in-law Harold Baker and his wife Marion; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Donald was also predeceased by his brother, Harold Cron, Jr., and sisters, Evelyn Estok and Beatrice Burd.

Funeral services took place on Friday, Feb. 5 at Stroyan Funeral Home. Rev. David Repenning officiated.

Interment followed at the Milford Cemetery, Dingman Twp.

Edward C. Murphy

Edward C. Murphy age 83 of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Friday, January 29, 2010 at  Meriden, Connecticut.  Ed was born in Port Jervis, NY on December 3, 1926, the son of the late John E. and Marguerite Mahoney Murphy.  Edward was an extremely Patriotic man, proudly serving our country for 26 years with the U.S. Navy.  He was a retired Master Chief Petty Officer, and served in WW II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.  After retirement from the U.S. Navy he worked for Horton Medical Center in Middletown, N.Y. as a Stationery Engineer for 20 years.

He was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Port Jervis;  a member of St. Joseph the Worker, Knights of Columbus Council 471, Port Jervis; a member of Tri-State Naval Ship 7241, Port Jervis, and a former member of Port Jervis Lodge of Elks 645 B.P.O.E.  A family statement read “Ed was a loving son, brother and a very special uncle to his many nieces and nephews.”

He is survived by his four nephews, John J. Ricciardi, Thomas P. Murphy, Alan Murphy and Patrick Pedlock; his three nieces, Patricia Knight, Nancy Warth and Mary Carroll.  He is also survived by 18 great nieces and nephews.  Ed was pre-deceased by his two brothers, John and Thomas Murphy and his two sisters, Helen Pdelock and Ann Ricciardi.

Prayers were offered Wednesday morning at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s  R.C. Church, Port Jervis.  Interment with Military Honors will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Jervis, N.Y.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc. 154 E. Ralph V. Fink

Ralph V. Fink age 82 of San Diego, California and formerly of Sparrowbush, N.Y. passed away Tuesday January 26, 2010 at his home.  He was born on  July 10, 1927 in Port Jervis, N.Y., the son of the late John R. and Edith Hall Fink.

After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. After being discharged, he entered the FBI on April 26, 1948, as a clerk in the New York Office. Upon graduating from St. John’s University with a Bachelor’s degree, Ralph served as a special Agent in the Chicago office in1955 and as a special agent and supervisor in the San Francisco office from 1957 until his retirement, Nov. 14, 1980.

After retirement, he operated Golden Gate Investigative Agency until December 1992. He has been a member of the Society since 1980 and has attended all of the National & Western Regional conventions since 1982. He has occasionally served as a delegate at these conventions. He is a member of the San Francisco Peninsula Chapter, the Society of FBI Alumni and has served in all of the positions of the San Diego Chapter including Chapter Chairman. Ralph was active on several Committees during the National convention at San Diego in 1992. He was involved in his community and civic affairs, having served as President of his Neighborhood community Center. Ralph was a Western Vice President for two years for the Ex FBI.

He is survived by  his wife, Florence Fink at home, his son  John Fink and his wife  Loree of Valentia, Calif., two daughters, Teri Fink of Winston, Oregon, and Gloria Clayton  and her husband  Gary of Petaluma, Calif., eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 1:30 PM at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, N.Y. with Chaplain Joyce Davis officiating.  Memorial donations may be made to the Sparrowbush United Methodist Church, 44 Main St., Sparrowbush, N.Y. 12780.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc. 154 E. Helene J. Langhorst

HONESDALE – Helene J. Langhorst, 87, of Honesdale, passed away at Wayne Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, January 27, 2010.

She was a retired secretary for the County of Pike and a longtime member of the Pike County Republican Committee, Pike County Historical Society, past Lackawaxen Township tax collector, and past Lackawaxen Township historian with Clarence James.

The daughter of the late Jacob F. and Emma (Nickel) Murbach, she was born October 30, 1922 in Baltimore, MD. She was married to the late Walter Langhorst.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Campbell of North Port, Fla., Priscilla Lehmann of Greeley; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Services and cremation were private at the convenience of the family.
